Artistic programs and projects
Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli offers a series of concert programs and opera projects dedicated primarily to the Baroque repertoire and the music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
These programs, developed in collaboration with leading international ensembles, are presented at major European early music festivals and opera houses.
Each project is constructed as a dramaturgical journey that unites musical theatre, baroque cantatas, and opera arias, showcasing the Italian and Handelian repertoire.
PROGRAMS
A program dedicated to the mythological and enchanting female figures of Baroque musical theater: sirens, witches, and seductive queens. The repertoire spans works by Handel, Vivaldi, Porpora, and Vinci, creating a musical journey among the great heroines and seductresses of Baroque opera.
The program includes arias from operas such as:

Sirens' Song – About Sirens and Sorceresses

This program explores Handel's repertoire of Italian cantatas, written during his youth in Italy.
The project brings together some of the composer's most intense and dramatic cantatas, including:
The Delirium of Love
Agrippina led to her death
juxtaposed with instrumental pages from the early eighteenth-century Italian period.
The program highlights the theatrical dimension of the baroque cantata, with an interpretative approach that combines singing, gesture, and dramaturgy.

Delirium of Love

A journey dedicated to the great protagonists of George Frideric Handel's opera.
Through some of the most famous arias from the Baroque repertoire, the program explores the psychological complexity of Handel's heroines, encompassing passion, power, and fragility.
The repertoire includes arias from:
Julius Caesar
Alcina
Radamisto
Semele
Orlando, Pretending to Be Mad (Vivaldi)
along with music by Scarlatti, Sartorio and Vivaldi.

Handel's Heroines

Concert production dedicated to Handel's youthful oratorio, presented at European early music festivals.
In the project, Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli plays the role of Piacere, one of the central figures in the allegorical work that stages the conflict between beauty, time, and truth.

The Triumph of Time and Disillusionment

Baroque serenade dedicated to the figure of Orpheus and the theme of loss and the memory of love.
The project features rarely performed music by Giovanni Alberto Ristori and is part of the Ensemble 1700's ongoing rediscovery of the European Baroque repertoire.

The Laments of Orpheus

Concert program dedicated to the theme of love in baroque and classical music.
Through arias and instrumental pieces by Handel, Vivaldi, and other European composers, the project explores the different nuances of love—from passion to melancholy, to joy and contemplation.

Moments of love

A show that is somewhere between a concert and a theater, spanning the great Baroque repertoire, showcasing some of opera's most famous love rivalries.
Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli plays various antagonistic characters, transforming on stage between figures taken from operas by Monteverdi, Cavalli, Handel and Vivaldi, accompanied by the ensemble La Terza Prattica on harpsichord, archlute and baroque guitar.
The project combines music, dramaturgy, and stagecraft in a journey dedicated to the passions and conflicts of Baroque musical theater.
